Strange Flavour Releases Apple Bob

First time publisher and longtime games developer Strange Flavour will be releasing Pixel Pyro’s new game Apple Bob on the iPhone and iPad on Thursday 26th September.

Evil Corp’s gloopers have captured all the bees and it’s up to you, as the game’s feisty protagonist Dash, to save them. Enjoy a good old-fashioned bout of platforming fun as you jump and dash through 100 levels of glorious hand drawn, high-resolution retina artwork using ridiculously easy-to-learn controls.

Apple Bob is created by Pixel Pyro, a company that comprises the talented Coder/Designer/Tea Boy Jim Bagley and accomplished Artist Paul Vera-Broadbent (we call him “Pab”). Jim and Pab have been writing great video games since the 8-bit days and Apple Bob is their latest wonderful fun fruity creation.

Jim Bagley explains, “Apple Bob has been a long time coming. It’s a complete re-invention of a game idea I came up with back in 1995 on the Megadrive. We’d like to give huge thanks to Aaron and Adam at Strange Flavour, as they have given us the opportunity to bring Dash to life and release it for iOS devices”.

Apple Bob is being released as an iPhone version for $0.99 and Apple Bob HD which is a universal version with extra high resolution artwork for the retina iPads for $2.99. Apple Bob, of course, has also been written for iOS 7 and will support the new MFi controllers (just as soon as we can get some to test with!).

Strange Flavour Pay It Forward By Publishing Other Developers’ Games

When Aaron and Adam Fothergill started Strange Flavour Ltd. in 2004, it was with the help of the Lynch Smith brothers’ company Freeverse as their publisher.
Since then, Strange Flavour has gone on to write games for the Mac, XBox 360 and of course the iPhone, published through Freeverse and, more recently, released under their own Strange Flavour label on the App Store.

From the help they had, they now aim to pay it forward by publishing other developers’ games on the iOS and Mac App Stores, starting with Pixel Pyro and their upcoming first iOS game, Apple Dash.

Like Strange Flavour, Pixel Pyro are a two-man team comprising Coder/Game Designer Jim Bagley and Artist Paul Vera-Broadbent (otherwise known as Pab). As well as technical and management help, Strange Flavour’s Adam Fothergill has also created the music and sound effects for Apple Dash.

Strange Flavour’s CEO and Lead Coder Aaron Fothergill said “We benefited massively from Ian and Colin’s experience and knowledge in publishing our games and we’re hoping to pay some of that help forwards to other games developers.”

Apple Dash will be available on the App Store on Sept 26th.
